Traffic Woes

The move

Recently, I moved out of the city and got smacked in the face with the daily commute. I tapped into Google's Transit data to try figure out a better departure time.

There wasn't (at least, for anyone sane)

Interesting bits

The slight increase over the winter months on the graph was cool to see, however obvious it might be that rain == traffic.

For the first few weeks I logged my actual times (red dots), which while anecdotal, do indicate that Google's estimate is just that.

On the same data, I produce a heatmap showing 5 minute intervals for each day of the week:

Something about that tells me that Capetonians aren't fond of working late on Friday's ;)
